Becoming a Certified Practitioner
Businesses today constantly face the challenge of change, from a simple process improvement for efficiency, to seismic change for a new line of business. Often the chief inhibitor is the time, cost and manpower associated with changing the software applications that support a business process.
Agile+ is an entirely different way of looking at business problems, and, when combined with the Appligenics Designer and Generator, reduces the effort involved in delivering new software applications by up to ninety percent, getting you where you want to be faster and for less cost.
As a business, you have three options for implementing Agile+:
- Train your own people
- Use Certified Practitioners provided by Appligenics
- Use Certified Practitioners from one of our partners
The likelihood is that you have people in your organization who are suitable candidates to be trained to certification level, however, if you don't or you simply want to use external services Appligenics and its partners can provide them.
Pre-Requisites - Who should attend?
This course is absolutely not for programmers! The candidates must be analytical and business aware, and have a personality that enjoys talking business and asking questions of business people.
The candidate should understand the basic concepts of Agile+, gleaned from the Appligenics White Papers. It is also helpful to understand basic terminology for web applications infrastructure and a little of the structure of databases.
Candidates will often have expertise or have come from a background of:
- Business analysis
- Data modeling in operational business departments (e.g. Finance)
- Database and data modeling at a high level
- Business process modeling
- Business process re-engineering
- High-level business function and specification design
Candidates must provide their own laptop PC, exceeding the minimum recommended hardware and software specifications (as determined in the latest product documentation).
The Course
To become Certified requires successful participation in an intense four-day course, covering two distinct areas:
- The Agile+ methods, and
- The Appligenics Designer and Generator software tools
The course covers the complete analysis and development cycle, including all of the skills necessary to design, specify, generate, test, and deploy a complete software application.
Upon graduating from this highly interactive course the Practitioner will:
- Understand and be able to use the underlying principles of Agile+
- Achieve unrivalled accuracy in predicting the time and cost to build software applications by using the Appligenics Time and Cost model
- Learn the skills necessary to run business-oriented workshops
- Be able to use the Appligenics Designer to create specifications and designs
- Be able to use the Appligenics Generator to automatically generate their own software applications without any manual programming
- Have built their first Agile+ business software application
Post-Graduation
All successful Agile+ students attain the level of Certified Graduate upon graduation and will be competent in the use of Appligenics and of Agile+ methods. Thereafter Appligenics can optionally provide a personal mentor for twelve-half days over a three-month period (the Appligenics Mentoring Program).
Typically, after six months of using Agile+ methods and four or five projects the Practitioner attains "Advanced" certification.
A further six months, and at least one major project, usually raises the Practitioner to Certified Expert, after which the Practitioner is qualified to provide mentoring to new Agile+ Certified Graduates.
Why Appligenics?
Services - With tight deadlines, it is important that time and financial criteria are met. Appligenics can offer fixed price contracts.
Rules Based - Both Business Analysts and the business users work together with the Business Rules definition in Appligenics. No knowledge of the underlying programming language or operating system is needed.
Short Learning Curve - The simplicity of Appligenics means the learning curve is very short. Staff become proficient in designing systems very quickly, and can put to use their excellent business knowledge.
Productivity - The significantly reduced elapsed time and man-days needed to deliver the project means your system is delivered on time and within budget.
